Field trip of Grade - 4 & 5 (Feb 2020)
Our primary kids had rare view of different kinds of birds in Vedanthangal, the home to migratory birds. Their educational journey had continued to a sugar factory where they witnessed a visual insight of the machines used for the process of making sugar from sugarcane. They had made a final half at the "one stop sports shop"-Decathlon. Kids had got a sports knowledge about the various sports equipment's and also about how and for what game it should be used by practically playing with them.
Field trip of grade 1,2 &3 to Kasthuri Organic Thotham (Feb 2020)
Thottam is a fascinating, new experience for the kids to gain knowledge through fun. Kids were enjoyed watching brilliant magic show, pot making techniques, basket weaving through bamboo sticks, fishery and much more. The most amazing part of the trip was Hydroponic and Aquaponic methods were used to grow healthy plants without soil. Kids finally ended the trip after enjoying bath in the pump set.

Sr.KG field trip to THE CHENNAI RAIL MUSEUM (Feb 2020)
The Chennai Railway Museum at the Integral Coach Factory warmly welcomed our Sr. Kg with a surprise, that led our kids into a fully air conditioner theatre to watch a short cartoon film. This set our kids up for a thrilling train ride on a miniature toy train that passed through a tunnel viewing modern art and sculptures from scrap metal parts. Our children’s excitement doubled, when they were allowed to climb on to the steam engines that stirred their curiosity.
Scouts & Guides, Cubs & Bulbul Camp (Jan 2020)
SFIS Scouts / Guides / Cubs and Bulbul troop had their first experience of camping at the 45th Annual camp held by Bharathi Scout and Guide group at Tonkela – Avadi. The 3 days-2 nights of stepping out of their comfort zone, was earthy satisfying, soul enriching and character building moments for our kids. Tents were pitched and the combination of all-faith prayers, at the crack of dawn on misty mornings were enchanting. The thrilling adventures throughout the day gave our children ample opportunities of physical activities. Our children were awarded medals and certificates.
SFIS - Pongal Celebration (Jan 2020)
Festive cheer marked the Pongal celebration held on 13th January 2020 at St. Francis International School. Students came in their traditional dresses and exhibited joy and pride as they filled the campus with the land's cultural aura. Sweet Pongal and Sugarcane were distributed to all the students. Our Tamil Department organized a plethora of programmes. The program commenced with the Lords prayer, followed by folk dances, traditional dances like kummiadi, Kolattam, karagattam and Puliyattam.
Mac-Integrators (Dec 2019)
An integrated club program was organized by Mathematics and Computer Science department teachers with a title ‘Mac-Integrators’ for SFIS students on 06.12.2019 (Friday). The students of Grade 1 to 5 were stimulated to participate in different off-stage events which were a blend of Math and Computer Science. Students from grades 6 to 9 had on-stage events such as Fancy dress, Ad-Corner, Data base Management system, PPT presentation and quiz which were reviewed and judged by Dr. Sharon Philomena, Asst. Professor (PG Dept) of Mathematics from Women Christian College and Mr. Milan Kumar, the Head of Solar Pumps Business and R & D of L&T.
Talent Spotlight (Nov 2019)
SFIS kindergarten ‘Talent Spotlight’ 2019 – 20 provided our tiny tots with a forum to showcase their talents. Our KG – students flaunted their talent in Rhymes, Singing, Dancing, Identifying personalities, Enacting stories and Quizing on stage. They also displayed their creativity in off stage competitions like Building blocks, Kirigams and Best out of waste. Our young talented chief guests – Mr. Kiran Biju, South Indian Singer, Musician, Composer and Ms. Kashifa, a Zumba Instructor, gave star solo performances that surprised our kids.Trophies were rewarded to the winners.
Children's Day Celebration (Nov 2019)
This Children's Day (14th November 2019) we celebrated the innocence, playfulness joy and freedom of childhood. On this day, the walls of the school echoed with the joy, laughter and happiness of each and every child. The day began with a series of skits and dances that were put up by the teacher. This was followed by a series of games. Finally, the students danced their hearts out to some of their favourite songs.
Science and Social Club (Nov 2019)
SFIS conducted its Science and Social Club event “ECO WARRIORS” on the 2nd of November 2019. The auditions for Grade (1-5) and The Preliminary rounds for Grades (6-9) were conducted.The selected students from Grades (1-5) competed against each other on the different categories on stage events like “Traditional Food and Costume”, puzzle on Birds and Animals, Road Safety, Pollution and Environment, Quiz program .The event was graced by the presence of two Chief Guests Mr. Praveen Alexander, Advocate Madras High Court and Mr. John Jayanth Godwin, Territory Service Manager, Hyundai Motors India Limited who judged the students events and displays and gave away the prizes.
Halloween’s Day (Nov 2019)
Halloween’s Day was celebrated on the 31st October with an exciting costume parade in the Kindergarten Dept. There were superheroes, fairies, witches, goblin and other interesting little characters walking around. The sound effects, lighting enacted by the student teacher Halloween team were mind blowing. The participation of our Principal and Vice-Principal in the fun celebrations added enthusiasm. It is a great chance for parents to help kids who may be scared realize that monsters are works of fiction.
Inter school Champions (Oct 2019)
Our SFIS students shined in the Inter School competition ‘ALPHAMAHOTSAV’ held at the Alpha CBSE School, Porur on 18th Oct 2019. There were 38 prizes from all category grabbed by 42 participants from SFIS amidst more reputed schools. Our students completely dominated the event by winning several prizes and bagged the overall championship Trophy. The Prizes and certificates were handed over to our students by the chief guest Mr. John Vijay.
Field Trip Grade 1 to 4 (Sept 2019)
Parly G products are very familiar among the kids. Kids are very excited and keen to know how biscuits are being made in the factory. Kids astonishment aroused higher, after seeing the dough making and baking machineries, how they are being packed etc. Finally, videos played by them was a good entertainment and knowledgeable for the kids about their various products. As a whole, it was a fascinating experience and fun trip for the kids.
Field Trip Grade 5 to 10 (Sept 2019)
On 13th September grade 5 to 10 children were taken to Parle - G Biscuit Factory, Madhavaram. Where the children experienced real making of Biscuits. Initially, an audio - visual animation was shown to the children, which explained the different products manufactured by parle -G. Later the children were taken to the baking unit, where the children visualized the raw materials baking and packing of biscuits. In the second session the children were taken to Decathlon Mogappair, Where the children enjoyed the most by playing with balls, Carrom board, skating and riding bicycles. In short it was a wonderful trip.
Teachers Day Celebration (Sept 2019)
The students and management of SFIS celebrated TEACHERS DAY ON 5th September. Senior students addressed the gathering and welcomed our Chief Teacher, the Correspondent, Mrs. Mercy Latha, Our Principal, Vice Principal and all teachers with a flower. The stage was taken over by our students by performing skits and dances. Special games were also conducted for their teachers. Senior students took over the role of teachers and managed the lower primary classes for the day. Gifts were given to every teacher by our correspondent Ma'am as a token of love and appreciation.
Language Club (Sept 2019)
This year's language club day at St. Francis International school was held on 31.09.2019. It aimed to familiarize students with various language skills and functions. The on - stage events were student centric; thus making the learning experiences fun, dynamic and authentic. The Linguist club 2019, began with a prayer. The chief guests were welcomed and honoured with mementos. This was followed by a series of exciting competitions; Where the students could showcase their linguistic talents. The winners were facilitated.
Independence Day Celebration (Aug 2019)
St. Francis International school conducted its formal investiture ceremony on 15th of August. The ceremony began with the unfurling of the Indian National Flag, by the Administrative Officer, Mr. Chellam Azari. The ceremonial pinning of the badges and handing over the sashes to the newly elected candidates was done by the Principal, Mr. Irudaya Raj. The school pupil leader, Assistant pupil leader along with the captains and vice captains took the pledge to keep the school's motto of- honour, Truth and Loyalty, in high esteem and fulfill their duty with utmost sincerity.
11th ANNUAL SPORTS MEET (Aug 2019)
On the 23rd of August, St. Francis International school hosted its 11th Annual sports meet. The day started off with a prayer. This was followed by the inter- house March past, a highly competitive event where the four houses eyed, for the first place. The various dance routines, Yoga, as well as the pyramid formation kept the audience enthralled. These displays made way for the highly awaited athletic events where the competitiveness among the students soared through the roof. At the end of the day, the Red house emerged as House Champions.
Awareness Program on JAL SAKTHI ABHIYAN (Aug 2019)
On 22.08.2019(Thursday) we conducted a special Assembly for JAL SAKTHI ABHIYAN (a campaign for water conservation and water security) to highlight the importance of water and the need to conserve the water during this rainy season. Students were addressed on the objectives of JAL SAKTHI ABHIYAN. water conservation and rainwater harvesting. Renovation of traditional and other water bodies. Reuse of water and recharging of structures. Watershed development and intensive afforestation. A few of our students demonstrated a working model on Rainwater Harvesting.
Investiture Ceremony of Scouts & Guides (Aug 2019)
An investiture ceremony of scouts, Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls was organised at our school in which 20 recruits got the investiture and eagerly joined the noble movement of scouting and Guiding. Mrs. Jennifer Guiding in charge of Little Flower school and Mr. Thyagarajan from Bharathi Scout group East Chennai district. along with our Principal Mr. Irudyaraj pinned badges and scarves to all the newly recruited members. The induction paved the way for learning to be clean, courteous and to inculcate leadership qualities amongst students.
SFIS Shines in State Level Inter School Project Expo (Aug 2019)
The students from St. Francis International school shined in the State Level Inter School Project Expo conducted by the ECE department of St. Joseph’s college of Engineering on 3rd of August 2019. The students from St. Francis International school secured the first place in the Environmental Science project discipline. The name of the project was “Efficient Water System” (EWS) which was an integration of Chemical Technology and Electronics. The students who won the first prize of Rs.10000 are Thipthi Shree, Lakshmi S Kannan, Alwin Yujin and Shirsh Mishra of Grade- 8. The prizes and certificates were handed over to the students by the principal of St.Joseph's college of Engineering Dr.Vaddi Seshagiri Rao and the Chief Guest of the Function.
Grandparents Gala (Aug 2019)
Our kids showed their love by welcoming their grandparents with a hand print paper bouquet and a little souvenir to honour their presence in school on this day. Children performed little speeches, danced, sang and enacted on stage. Our kids interviewed grandparents to share their childhood experiences. Cake cutting, games and photo sessions with Grandparents made it a remarkable day.
Caring for animals (Aug 2019)
Children came with their pet fish and pet birds. A goat kid, a calf and a pet dog were brought in to show kids how to feed and care for them and most importantly teachers showed them how to be kind to animals. Children wore different animal head bands and took turns to get friendly with the pets. Teaching our kids to show compassion to birds and animals will develop the will to help others.
Caring for Plants (Aug 2019)
Our Sr.Kg kids stayed outdoor. They got busy mixing the soil, planted seeds and tree shoots in the school campus, some helped to water the plants, while others happily sang plant songs and chanted slogans with a loud and clear message”. It is in our hands to make our mother earth a greener planet, so we can all breathe cleaner air”. Our students wore green head bands and carried home a little plant to care for it.
CARE OF ONE SELF (Aug 2019)
Small acts of caring for one self was given importance on this day. Eating healthy food, good hygiene, exercise, practical lesson on buttoning shirts, tying shoe laces was aimed at capability and confidence that helps to improve self-esteem in our children.
Caring for others (Aug 2019)
This was a testing day for the teachers. Our kids expressed their desire to care for everyone in the campus. Starting with hugs and exchange of greeting cards and handmade teddies to their friends and teachers. They volunteered to help wash their school bus. While another group of children helped to make fruit salad to treat the maids and drivers. Almost all the kids brought in contribution for the old aged home and child orphanage.
Sr.Kindergarten Caring Hearts Week (Aug 2019)
Sr.Kg set aside an extremely impactful week-long event, to raise awareness of "Caring", our approach to enquiry based learning, that emphasized our students role in the learning process. Our little students were encouraged to share and care ask questions and explore. The fun activities kept them excited and engaged with all the organised events.
Inter School Sports Meet (Jul 2019)
The budding sportsmen of SFIS participated in various athletic events held at Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu ground (SDAT) during the State Level Athletic Meet on the 6th of July 2019, with great enthusiasm. They sped their way to the finishing line and completely dominated the event by winning several medals and trophies. They have brought in 17 Gold,14 Silver and 13 bronze medals that made them to grab the overall second place trophy.
Pre-KG Family Day (Jul 2019)
The back drop, bulletin board and welcome board displayed all our Pre-KG family photos, aim to build strong teacher-parent-child relationships. The pleasant day began with a prayer and lighting of the lamp. Family games, Puppet story narration by a parent, dancing, pretend play and cake cutting, were some of the events of the day. Our adorable tiny tot’s performance on stage dancing, singing and acting was a real pleasure to watch. To honour each family, a handmade card and a Diya candle were presented by the child to make the day memorable.
Jr.Kg Flower Day (Jul 2019)
Our Jr.Kg kids dressed up in colourful attire on the occasion of Flower Day. Kids performance on stage that involved 'Singing,' 'Dancing,' 'Show and Tell' was a great pleasure to watch. Children were kept engaged in threading flowers on sticks, arranging bouquets and flower Rangoli on the floor. Another group of children displayed their Artistic ability along with their teachers to create a beautiful " Cherry Blossom Art”. These activities are extremely important with the focus aimed at developing of hand-eye Coordination.
Field Trip (Jul 2019)
Pre.Kg & Jr.kg students began their outdoor field trip of 2019-2020 to St. Thomas Mount Hill Shrine. Our tiny tots were made to climb the little slope to the top. Where the open space and the peaceful atmosphere provided the perfect spot for our kids to rest a while. They walked around the Holy Shrine, over looking at the exquisite sight of the whole city of Chennai and had an aerial view of our airport. They were thrilled to see aeroplanes take-off and landing.
Re-Opening Day (Jun 2019)
SFIS re-opened school on 10th June to the new Academic year 2019-2020. "Welcome back to school” signs on every classroom door showed that our teachers and students were excited to start off the new year right. Our KG students arrived with mixed emotions, however, our experienced group of teachers took the day by storm ensuring the smooth transition with fun games, freebies and memorable first day school activities. This facilitated introductions, got students talking and became comfortable with their new classmates, setting the tone for a successful year ahead.
